About me

A small web design and marketing business in Stamford, working with independent businesses across Rutland, Lincolnshire and the East Midlands.

About me

Hello, I'm James.

I design and build websites from Stamford, on my own. The person you brief is the person who writes the words and does the build.

There is no account manager in the middle and nothing gets handed to a junior. If something is wrong you ring me, not a ticket system.

I have also been a working photographer for about fifteen years. If your site needs pictures of your premises, your team or your work, I can take them myself rather than reaching for a stock library.

Small, and staying that way

Working on my own is a choice, not a stepping stone. It means nothing falls between people, because there is only one person. It also means I take on a limited number of clients at a time. I would rather do a handful of jobs properly than thirty adequately.

Most of my work comes from within an hour of Stamford: Rutland, Peterborough, Northamptonshire and Lincolnshire. Almost all of it arrives by recommendation.

Why it's different

What that means for you

You get one number to ring, and the person who answers built the thing you are ringing about. You get a written price before work starts, and it does not move unless you ask for something new. And I will tell you when something is not worth doing, even when doing it would be the bigger invoice.

None of that is a promise on a wall. It is just what happens when the person selling the work is the person doing it.

What I believe

Four things I won't budge on

01

Plain English

No jargon, and no selling you things you do not need. If a page rewrite would fix it rather than a rebuild, I will say so.

Three lines of marketing jargon struck through, with a plain-English sentence kept underneath. Step 1 of the four things Stamford Creative will not budge on.

02

Straight pricing

You get the number before work starts, in writing, with a date beside it. Nobody enjoys a surprise invoice, least of all the person sending it.

A quote card showing a fixed price of £2,400 with a start date, a go-live date and no extras. Step 2 of the four things Stamford Creative will not budge on.

03

Direct access

My mobile, not a ticket queue. When you ring, you get me, and I will know what you are talking about.

A phone mid-call to a named person rather than a ticket queue. Step 3 of the four things Stamford Creative will not budge on.

04

Built to last

Clean builds on solid foundations, set up so you can edit them yourself, and still fast and still ranking in three years.

Four stacked layers — content, template, hosting and foundation — widest at the base. Step 4 of the four things Stamford Creative will not budge on.

Everything in one place

Web design, search, hosting, ecommerce, advertising, branding and photography, all from one person. Not because I am trying to be everything to everyone, but because these things work far better when they are joined up.

What I do

Rooted in Stamford

I live here, my clients are my neighbours, and I see them in town. That is a surprisingly good quality control system, and it is why I do not take on work I cannot do well.

Come and say hello

Some of what I've made

You should be able to ring the person who built your website and have them pick up.

Fancy a chat?

No pitch deck, and no discovery call that turns into a sales call. Tell me what you are trying to fix and I will tell you what I would do.
