Web Design in Stamford

Fast, well-built WordPress sites designed around the enquiry — not around a template, and not around whatever was easiest to assemble.

A website that earns its keep

A good site does three things: it loads quickly, it makes you look like the business you actually are, and it makes it obvious what to do next. Most sites we are asked to replace fail on at least two of those, usually because they were built to a template and filled in afterwards.

We start with what you sell and who buys it, work out the handful of pages that will do the selling, and design those first. Everything else follows. You get a WordPress site you can edit yourself, on a clean build with no page-builder sludge, hosted somewhere quick.

Photography, copy, hosting and search are all handled here too, so nothing gets thrown over a fence to someone who has never seen your business.

We also build websites for photographers, wedding venues, videographers, authors and content creators, and each of those pages shows how the approach changes for that line of work.

The best-looking website is not the one that wins. It is the one you can find, read and act on.

How a build runs

From first call to live

01

A proper conversation

What the business does, who buys, what the current site gets wrong, and what would count as success. An hour here saves a fortnight later.

Two sides of a conversation shown as alternating message bubbles. Step 1 of the website design process.

Start one

02

Structure before decoration

We map the pages and what each one has to achieve before anyone opens a design tool. Get this right and the design becomes straightforward.

A sitemap: a home page branching to Services, Work, About and Contact, with sub-pages below. Step 2 of the website design process.

03

Design and build together

Designed in the browser, on real content, at real sizes — so what you approve is what you get, on a phone as well as a laptop.

One browser window split down the middle — plain wireframe on the left, finished design on the right. Step 3 of the website design process.

04

Live, then watched

We do not disappear on launch day. The first month is when the real information arrives, and it is when the useful tweaks get made.

A line chart of enquiries climbing over the first eight weeks, with the launch date marked. Step 4 of the website design process.

Built to be edited

You get shown how to change text, add pages and swap photos. No ringing us to update an opening time.

Quick by default

Compressed images, minimal plugins, sensible hosting. Speed is a ranking factor and a conversion factor, and it is mostly free if you build properly.

Accessible and legible

Real contrast, sensible type sizes, keyboard navigable. It is the right thing to do and it happens to help everything else.

Written, not filled in

Copy is part of the build, not a document you have to supply at the end. If you would rather write it yourself, that is fine too.

Photographed properly

Stock photography of other people’s offices fools nobody. We shoot the real thing — it is the single biggest lift a small site gets.

Hosted and looked after

Updates, backups and monitoring handled, with someone to ring if something looks wrong.

A site should still be fast, findable and easy to update three years from now not the day it launched.

Local work

Websites we have built close to home

Most of our work comes from within an hour of Stamford, and a fair amount of it from within twenty minutes.

Pony Perfect in Deeping St James is a family-run miniature pony business that visits parties, care homes and therapy sessions. Their site gives each of those audiences its own route without splitting into three.

The Malcolm Arms, a pub and restaurant near Boston, has events, menus and table bookings in one place, on a custom build that scores 100 for accessibility in Google’s own page test.

Swan Lake Country Park is a luxury lodge park in Lincolnshire, with pages for lodge ownership, holidays and each lodge. We are currently working with businesses in Bourne and Spalding too.

How long it takes

A Starter site is usually live within two to three weeks of us having your content. A Business site takes three to five weeks, and an ecommerce build six to eight depending on how many products there are and where they are coming from.

You get the price before work starts, in writing, with a date beside it. It does not move unless you ask for something new — and if you do, we will tell you what it adds before we do it.
